Send it. Get paid.
Chase it if they do not.
An invoice with a pay button, settled into your own UK bank account. If it goes unpaid we chase it with the interest and the fixed sum the law actually gives you — not a polite reminder. LegaSum takes 0.9% of what you collect; Stripe's fee is separate and goes to Stripe. What we do not do here yet is keep your books, and the reason is two sections down.

The machine does the mechanical part. A person does the part that needs one.
Invoicing software sends the invoice and leaves the rest to you — the chasing, the interest you are entitled to, the working out of what you are owed. We do that part. It is the same idea as having someone in the office who follows things up, except it runs every day and does not forget.
The chase is the product
Not a reminder that says «just checking in». The statutory interest for the days it has actually been late, and the fixed sum for the size of the debt.
It knows the law
Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998: 8% over the Bank of England base rate, plus £40, £70 or £100. Charged once per payment, and not at all if your contract sets a different rate.
You are not the one asking
Most people never claim any of it, because asking for money is unpleasant and working it out is fiddly. The first claim is the hard one; after that it is arithmetic.
Nothing until you are paid
No monthly fee, no invoice count. An invoice that is never paid costs you nothing, and a refund takes our share back with it.
What is not here is the bookkeeping, and the section below says so plainly. This page sells getting paid and getting chased, because that is what works today.
0.9% to us. Stripe's fee to Stripe
Not a tier and not a starting-from. On a £1,000 invoice that is £9 to us, and separately whatever Stripe charges for the rail. We publish both, because one number that quietly contains the other is how you end up surprised.
Direct Debit is the cheap one
Stripe charges 1% on a Bacs Direct Debit and caps it at £4.00. On a £10,000 invoice the rail costs four pounds — and the cap is Stripe's, not ours, so we say whose it is.
The money is yours, directly
Payouts land in your own UK account, not in ours first. Stripe verifies your identity and bank details once, and after that it runs by itself.
Paid, posted, done
The payment matches itself to the invoice. You are not reconciling one payout against seven invoices at the end of the month.
An invoice with a pay button, settled to your own bank
Send it by email or link. The payer picks bank or card; we put the cheaper one first, because our 0.9% is the same either way and we have no reason to prefer the expensive rail.
- Bank and cardA Bacs Direct Debit costs 1% capped at £4.00; a standard UK card costs 1.5% + 20p. Both settle to your own account.
- Nothing on an unpaid invoiceWe take our share when money arrives and not before. There is no monthly fee to stop.
- Your customer sees two buttonsNot interchange, not Connect, not our economics. That is our work, not theirs.
What works right now, without waiting for anything
These are not on a roadmap. They are what a UK business can use this afternoon.
- Customers and suppliersOne record for the invoice, the chase and the conversation — not a CRM kept in step with an accounting package by hand.
- Quotes and recurring billingSend a quote, turn it into an invoice, or bill the same amount every month without re-typing it.
- Reports you can readWhat you are owed, what is late, what came in. By period, by customer, by whatever question you actually have.
- Your data, as a fileinvoices, invoice lines, journal entries and customer and supplier records download as CSV for any date range you choose — from inside the product, without asking anyone.
Your accountant gets in. Free, on every account.
There is no seat to pay for and no limit on how many people you invite. They see the books, not a screenshot you emailed them — and they can take the month out as a file when it is time to file.
- No per-user pricingInvite your bookkeeper, your accountant and whoever else needs to see it. It costs nothing, on every account, including the free one.
- Read-only if that is what you wantA role that sees everything and changes nothing, for the accountant who checks rather than keeps the books.
- The month as a fileinvoices, invoice lines, journal entries and customer and supplier records as CSV, for any date range. HMRC's own guidance lists CSV import and export as a digital link, and says copy and paste is not one.
Building We do not keep your books in the UK
Making Tax Digital for VAT means every VAT-registered business must keep digital records and file its VAT return through software HMRC recognises. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax goes further: since 6 April 2026, sole traders and landlords earning over £50,000 must keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC. Our ledger is Danish and is not MTD-recognised, so it cannot do either.
- It is not a date we have missedMaking Tax Digital is in force now, not coming. We are saying so on the page rather than letting you find out at your first quarter.
- Your books stay where they areInvoicing, payment and chasing do not touch your VAT return or your quarterly updates. Nothing here changes how you file.
- The file is the bridgeTake the month out as CSV and put it into the software you already use. That is a transfer HMRC's guidance recognises, and it is not retyping.
To be plain about the limit: we are not MTD software and cannot make you compliant. If that changes — if we build a UK ledger and get it recognised — this page will say so, with the date.
Where this is going, and how far along each part is
The plan is one platform for everything a business has to do, on one set of records. The marks are set from what this code can be shown to contain, and none of them carries a date — a date we miss is worth less than an order we keep.

Invoicing and payments are live; the books are not, because Making Tax Digital requires HMRC-recognised software — see above. Making Tax Digital is the only reason, and it is not a small one: it is why we do not offer to be your books here at all, not a feature we are still finishing.

From nothing to a paid invoice
Four steps, and the longest one is Stripe checking who you are.
Create the company
Name, address, VAT number if you have one. Free, and it stays free.
Connect your bank
Stripe verifies your identity and bank details once. After that, payouts run by themselves.
Send the invoice
By email or a link. The payer picks bank or card; we put the cheaper one first.
We chase it if they do not pay
With the interest and the fixed sum the Act gives you, worked out for the days it has actually been late.
The things people ask before they start
Can I use this instead of my accounting software?
Not in the UK, and not yet. Making Tax Digital requires HMRC-recognised software for your records and returns, and our ledger is Danish. Use this for invoicing, payment and chasing; keep your books where they are.
What does a payment actually cost?
Stripe charges 1.5% + 20p on a standard UK card and 1% on a Bacs Direct Debit, capped at £4.00. LegaSum takes 0.9% on top. On a £1,000 invoice paid by Direct Debit that is £10 to Stripe and £9 to us.
Do I need to be VAT registered?
No. You must register once your taxable turnover passes £90,000 in a rolling 12 months, or if you expect to pass it in the next 30 days. Below that it is your choice.
Can I move the numbers into my MTD software?
Yes, and without retyping them. invoices, invoice lines, journal entries and customer and supplier records download as CSV for any date range. HMRC's own guidance lists CSV import and export as a digital link, and says copy and paste is not one — so the file is a transfer your bookkeeping can accept. To be plain about the limit: we are not MTD software and cannot make you compliant. Your electronic account lives in whatever HMRC-recognised software you already use, and this just saves you keying it in.
Can my accountant get in?
Yes, free, on every account. There is no seat to pay for and no limit on how many people you invite.
What happens to an invoice that is never paid?
It costs you nothing. We take our share when money arrives and not before — and if you refund it, our share goes back with it.
Send the invoice. We will handle the rest of it.
Free to start. Nothing until somebody pays you.
